He would be 36 today - January 26th.
Jeremy is the English version of Jeremiah which means "God exalts." Jeremiah was also the weeping prophet. We certainly did a lot of weeping when our own Jeremy died. In spite of the sorrow, God encouraged and comforted us. God exalted Jeremy to the heavens with Himself, to never feel pain or sorrow himself. Of course, we miss him and have wistful thoughts about what it would have been like to raise a son.
Even though we were totally shocked at the death of our baby, God was not. How could I have imagined when I was a little girl playing with my dolls pretending to be a mommy, that my first born child would be born dead? And yet God knew. It was in His plan for me. He knew even before that, though, before I was born, before my own mother was born, etc. Back in eternity, God knew every detail of the events surrounding Jeremy's birth and death. He knows the end from the beginning and was not surprised by what happened to us.

Although I never held our little boy, I believe our little Jeremy is safe in the arms of Jesus. And one day I will see him.

I can't imagine the shock and pain losing Jeremy, your first baby. What a joy seeing him with Jesus one day. I will be rejoicing with you :)
Last night's Community Group brought such heartfelt sharing as many in the group has faced huge losses as you did. We are reading CJ Mahaney's Living the Cross Centered Life, Keeping the Cross the Main Thing. Chapter nine: What God Understands, His Presence in our Suffering. It is a wonderful little book that we are all enjoying.
Thank you, Lorraine. God really ministered to me this morning, too. I am reading through "Jesus Calling" this year and today's selection was so comforting to me. We think we deserve a problem-free life and a resolution to all our difficulties. But that is a false hope. Instead of seeking perfection in this fallen world, we should be pouring our energies into seeking the Perfect One. We have a blessed hope because of Jesus' words to his disciples: Take heart...I have overcome the world!
Wow phyllis! I have known you for over 20 years and never knew you had lost your first born. I grieve with you and also rejoice with you knowing that Jeremy is with Jesus and you will one day see him and hold him in your arms. He will be waiting for you when you enter heaven with open arms.
I had a miscarriage after Keri and also never held my baby. I don't know the gender but in my heart I feel that she is a girl and have named her Christina ( after Brad's grandma). I know what you have gone through and understand very well. Many times I think about heaven and our reunion together.. We leave our family here on earth which will be
a sad day but we have our love ones waiting with open arms.
Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
