Fun with Family this week

One of Amy's dogs had a litter of puppies that needed shots, so she and her dear family made the trip down last Sunday, Aug. 8 to our place. I knew they'd be coming, but was surprised when they showed up at church for the 11:00 service. It was very nice to sit together in church as a family. Dawn and Kira joined us, too. After church, everyone came over for our regular Sunday afternoon brunch of waffles and omelets. Andy gave the puppies their shots and we were able to visit for a couple of hours.

Ricky couldn't resist the comfy couch after we ate.Kira was enthralled with the puppies.
Two sweet little girls on my lap! I was sitting in my chair, when Kira crawled over and begged me to pick her up. Then Joanna wanted up, too. Of course, I was happy to oblige.
Then this last weekend we celebrated Kira's birthday. She turned 1 year old on July 28, but we were on vacation, so Dawn had the party for her on Saturday, Aug. 14. All our girls and grandkids were there and it gave us all a chance to see Dawn & Tommy's house.

Naomi thought she wanted to hold Kira, but Kira is getting quite heavy for a 5 year old.
Kira liked the one gift we gave her. (The other one is still wrapped.)
All the cousins enjoyed being together and playing with Kira's toys.
And Tommy had to give a tutorial on his new phone.
Yesterday was my mother's birthday. She already had plans to be treated to lunch at Red Lobster by my brother and his family. Wendell's son, John, shares my mother's birthday, so he also was in on the party, as well as his wife, mother-in-law and sister-in-law. I attended the 8:00 am service at church, then drove 2 hours to my mother's house to pick her up. We had lunch at Red Lobster, then I drove her back and visited a little before driving home again.

I look like I was drinking in this picture with my eyes half closed, but I assure you the strongest drink I had was decaf coffee. But my mother looks good! Can you believe she's 82! I hope I look half this good when I'm that old. Happy birthday, Mother, and many more.
